The installation of 30 sculptures and 80 other pieces of art by world renowned sculptor Laurence Jenkell will be on display starting Tuesday, December 19, throughout the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Installation of the art work will begin at 10 p.m. tonight, December 18.

Ms. Jenkell and her celebrated sculptures have toured the world, where they have been showcased in Spain, Singapore, China, United Arab Emirates and France, her home country. The Port Authority Bus Terminal is the first location in the United States to display Ms. Jenkell’s work.

Anita Durst was the driving force behind bringing Ms. Jenkell’s art work to the bus terminal. Ms. Durst founded Chashama in 1995 and it has grown into one of the region’s leading supporters of artists to provide them with the opportunity to create and showcase their work. Ms. Jenkell’s creations are present in the world’s leading art galleries and museums.

Media interested in more information or in speaking to Port Authority representatives, Ms. Durst or Ms. Jenkell should contact Public Information Officer Rudy King at 212-435 -7777.

The Port Authority also owns and manages the 16-acre World Trade Center site, where the 1,776-foot-tall One World Trade Center is now the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. The Port Authority receives no tax revenue from either the State of New York or New Jersey or from the City of New York. The agency raises the necessary funds for the improvement, construction or acquisition of its facilities primarily on its own credit. For more information, please visit http://www.panynj.gov.
