Jenkell's flags candies’ sculptures

New personal exhibition of Laurence Jenkell, french Artist recognized all over the world, at the Heydar Aliyev Center from May 6th till October 31st, 2014 with 26 flags candies’ sculptures of various countries.

An outstanding architectural masterpiece inaugurated last year in the presence of her designer, the famous architect Zaha Hadid, recognized worldwide and winner of prestigious Pritzker Architecture Price.

Laurence Jenkell's sculptures answer in echo the exceptional architecture of this curved lines building of the future which creates a bridge between past and present.

An expensive theme to the artist herself whose sculptures are not only the fruit of her reflection on patriotism and membership in a country, but also on past and present.

A candy-object that became art. A candy that everybody knows since earliest childhood. A candy that crosses time and generations. A candy that crosses borders. A candy that calls out and fascinates by its simplicity and its natural beauty. Curved and sensual forms and especially a recognizable shape and a real signature for the artist Laurence Jenkell.

Whereas the art critics tend to associate Laurence Jenkell with pop art or neorealism, the artist says herself she does not belong to any artistic movement. Her only purpose is to create and share her works.
